House updates

Putting down the decking took 2 hard days in the 100 degree heat.  Blake helped on the second day with screwing.

Closer shot of the floor - it is screwed and all glued down with construction adhesive as well. No squeeky floors for this house!

Blake!

Starting with framing!

There is a door through to the barn, this will be cut in later.

All the frames we made by hand.  It is satisfying to see how square and true they all turned out!

First half day, 3 frames up!  Nice progress!

Morning of day 3 on the frames, plenty of progress.

It rained over night, so everything was a bit soggy... no problem for the particle board under the tarp though.

And here is our view while working... pretty nice!

End of day 4 - frames all done!

Next is putting up the particle board outer walls.  These go up quickly...

Blake helped out with lifting up all the boards, and screwing!  He is getting good at building houses!
Done with the wall board, and beginning to cut out the window cutouts!  Only half a day's work until we can get the roof trusses up!

Oh... we were working hard on our house, and this drives past.  this house is 30+ feet wide, 50 ft long... we didn't get out to the road to flag it down quick enough... haha.  I am amazed at what they do around here with regard to laws and legislation though - there was only one pilot vehicle accompanying this load, and the load overhung BOTH sides of the road.  It makes the Australian nanny laws look inefficient and encumbering...
