Ok, so it's been nearly a month since I last updated and I've got lots to fill you in on. However I just looked and found no photos to add about this last month. *sigh*. I must really be slipping. First late and now no photos. Can I blame it on old age yet?
Last we left off, Michael was here for a visit. That weekend we had a nice leisurely time visiting friends. I took him around to meet Amanda and Miles and their 5 kids on Friday night for pizza. On Sat we went to Aaron and Lorinne's house and he got to meet their family and their parents. It's nice for him to put faces with names that I talk about. On Monday Blake got had the day off for teacher in-services so he went with us to the airport and then spent the day with me at work. After that things went back to mostly normal. I got really busy with school and getting ready for my finals.
I worked really hard at catching up with school that I was burnt out by the weekend so I skipped my planned 6 hour study time and took the kids up to an indoor pool area in Deadwood. They had a lot of fun. In fact, so much fun that we didn't even leave for naps like we were supposed to. We stayed until 3pm. Blake didn't get to go cause he had his baseball practice for 3 hours that morning. Of course that meant I had to do all that school work on Sunday, but oh well.
Blake started Baseball. unfortunately most of his practices were cancelled due to snow so by their first game he'd only practiced 3 times. They lost their first game, but have been playing very well since. I've only been able to go to one game so far with my schedule and the little ones, but I was the embarrassing mom that no one wanted to claim and proud to be it. He won that game and the next.
That week I also had to turn down a full time job. It was the hardest thing that I think I've ever done. Job wise that is. I really liked the location, the people and the job. It just didn't pay enough. I wold have had to spend more to pay for the extra 20 hours of daycare than what they were paying me.
That was also the week we went back for Kindergarten testing again. This time, after she did 15 minutes of screaming, she settled down and did great. Though after talking with those testing her and her preschool teachers, we decided to hold her back one year in order for her confidence and independence to deepen. She'll be attending preschool 4 days next year and then going to kindergarten the year after.
The snow also started melting that week so we had tons of mud. But with the loss of the snow, the pole barn was able to be finished and the weather is hot hot hot now. During those cold and snowing, and then muddy, days I had plenty of time to get on a roll with my workouts. I'm down to a size 10 now and finally made it over that plateau that I always seem to stop at every time I do a workout program. I am now in the Lean Month for Chalene Extreme and am planning on doing the P90X series next. I've heard from lots of friends of the great results I have to look forward too.
I took my school final over the course of a week. I took me nearly 6 hours to finish it, then I had to wait for the teacher to answer some questions, and then I fought some of the 'wrong' answers that I got. I ended up with a 93% on the test and a 97% in the class. I also got the approval to farther my school with the ICD-10 course which comes out in Oct and two advanced classes. Though we are thinking I should take the summer off and wait till Michael gets here to start those.
I also have the great news to share that I will be starting a full time position on June 3rd. I will be the front desk supervisor for the Bureau of Land Management. It's not in the medical field but it's right here in Belle. It's still with the federal government so the pay is great, and all my benefits from my current job carry over. I still have a dream of going back to the VA as a coder sometime in the future, but for now, this is what's best for my family. In order to leave the VA on a good note, I am trying to fit in 3 months worth of training in 3 weeks. I'm traveling to all the subsidiary locations and training everyone on a crash course in the next few weeks.
Blake is nearly done with school. He's got his last week of homework and his track and field day this week and then next week is just fun and games. His last day is on the 23rd. He will then have two months of swimming and baseball until we have to figure out what to do with him in Aug. I guess he'll have to go to work with Michael building the apartment. It looks like Michael is planning on coming over here in July once the stuff for his job is all settled.
Sophie had preschool graduation last week, though she wouldn't go up on stage and wouldn't sing or do anything so I didn't get any photos. Thomas also threw a fit the whole time cause I wouldn't give him the camera so.... yeah. Both kids are enjoying the warm weather and helping us work outside. One weekend we moved all the timber and posts into the shed so they were out of the weather. This weekend they picked up rocks and rolled magnets to find nails. Blake has been helping Grandpa with many projects and seems to really like it. We got him all moved down to the basement so he has his own space now. Thomas is having a hard time adjusting to now having Blake as his bunk bed mate anymore but we hope to get past that.
So I think that was a lot of rambling and stuff that was out of place but I think I got it all in there. Oh, Mother's day. It was a good day. Sophie decided to cut her own hair so we had to go try to fix that, I'll get photos later. They couldn't do much with it so we bought clips and bands and have to wait till it grows a bit before we can get it cut right. Then Blake and I and Grandpa met some friends for the new Iron Man 3 movie. The weather was great too. We did get some flowers planted as well, and a 1.5 hour workout done. All in all, very good.
