Thanksgiving and Swimming

As it it gets closer to the end of the school term, and summer over here, the weather and activities have picked up.  The weekend of the 17th and 18th we finally arranged to go camping with Kaye and David.  What an adventure.  It rained, and rained, and then there was some wind, and then it rained some more.  Michael says our tent passed it's test.  I beg to differ but seeing that only a few things got wet, I guess it could have been much worse.

With the heat coming on we have called on our friends with pools!  Sophie's friend Mia (Peta who we go camping with) just happens to be one of those.  Mia is very confident in the water and it's good for Sophie to be around her.  We actually got her to go in by herself, with a floating ring, but at least it was something.  We also get to go to Wet N Wild a lot, which is just down the street.  You will see photos of that around Christmas time when I can get Michael to come with.  It's hard to take photos and be in the water with the kids at the same time...go figure.

We also had Blake's swim carnival for school.  Don't ask me why they like to call everything over here a carnival.  He did very well for the school.  Only we know that he wasn't having his best day.  He got 2 firsts and 2 seconds and tied for the Year 11 boys trophy.  They had to play rock paper scissors to see who got to take it home.  They are ordering another one for the other boy.  He also broke 2 school records.  I think it was in the 50m breaststroke and the 50m backstroke but now I can't remember.  He swam 4 events and 1 relay for the day.

This past weekend we had the privalege of going down to Murwillumbah and having Thanksgiving dinner with a Southern States couple and some of their - international - friends. I think we had people there from Germany, Asia, and two or three other places.  It was hard to keep them all straight, but it was a lovely time.  Kaye and David went with us. We should have taken photos, but who wants to see pictures of people eating???

Swim Carnival - for the ones that he's in the water, look for the green goggle strap to find him.
