Last we left off it was Halloween day. We ended up finding a really cute costume for Thomas in a cheap shop. Sophie was all excited but Thomas didn't know what was going on. Since his costume was a full body suit we decided to put him in a nappy, and no matter what we said to reassure him, he was convinced the nappy meant he was going to bed. During his fit, we struggled him into his costume, which sort of resembled jammies and it got even worse. We did finally convince him to put his shoes on and get in the pram. He settled down then because we've never put him to sleep in the pram (on purpose anyway).
We walked over to our friends house and picked her and her two little ones up. Molly was 5 and knew everything to do so she showed Sophie how it went, though she stayed in the back ground the first few houses, she did get over her shyness when candy was involved. Thomas got right in there and even tried to get more than one piece once in a while. When we got done they all sat down and ate as much as they could in 10 minutes. The next day I figured it would be better to just give them their whole bucket and have one day of junk, then draw it out for several days by having a few pieces at a time. BTW, the dentists agree with my method as being better for teeth:). Anyway, that night they both crashed at 6 and slept in till nearly 7:30 which is a complete miracle as they have never slept past 6 unless sick.
The weekend of the 3rd I had a Ladies craft day at the Church. It was very fun. I got Sophie's and Thomas's birthdays all done and my latest two craft projects. It was nice sharing the time with the ladies and being child free. Michael took the kids to the farm and then Kaye and David took the kids to the Murwillumbah Show. I wasn't there but I'm assuming it was like the State 4-H fair in South Dakota.
Last week we were just run down and tired of trying to work on the house after work, so Kaye and David graciously took the kids for the whole of last weekend and Michael and I worked and worked on the house. We photo'd everything we were going to sell and stacked it in the garage. We filled several very large bags to go to the op shop, and I separated out everything I wanted to give to specific people. It was quite a chore. Our house is clean now, liveable, sparse but not empty by any means. There will still be quite a lot of work to do before we leave, but now I feel that if I get called away unexpectedly, Michael will be able to handle the rest.
Really it's nice to have a good clean out. The house stays clean for weeks afterwards and your whole life feels more ordered and on track. Like you can take on the world, nothing can stop you. This week we have just been posting things on gumtree and ebay. I think we are up to 60 posts or something like that. We were planning to go camping this next weekend but Peta's family had to cancel on us and now it looks like rain, which we need so we won't complain. It will be interesting to see what we end up doing.
Kids Halloween Costumes. Sophie is a princess fairy angel. And you can all guess what Thomas is.
Sophie with balloon fingers. My kids have more fun with the balloons before they are blown up than after.
