Blake's Birthday Bash

Here they are, the photos of the much talked about event :)  Blake's birthday bash.  As some of you are aware, we try to give our kids 'memories' instead of birthday presents.  This year we didn't have the time to take Blake anywhere special because harvest started early.  In fact, his birthday weekend was actually celebrated in March!.  But we did manage to get him some great memories, which just goes to show you, you don't have to travel far from home to have a great time.

Blake was able to invite some of his buddies for a weekend at the farm.  The ones that were able to come were Brendon, Hayden, and Kyle.  They started out at the beach but we all know how camera's and sand mix, so I didn't get any photos.  I will say that they loved playing in the sand and Thomas even had to fight over his sand buckets!  Then we drove down to the farm for more rockin' good times.  They had to set up their tent and collect fire wood first.  I still hadn't gotten the camera out for this but they had great fun.

Then we harvested a little and the boys got to see how a nut farm is run.  After that we set up a slip 'n' slide that turned into a mud run.  The boys had great fun and I'm always amazed at the things they can do without getting hurt!  There are some fun photos and a video of this below.  Then my camera brook, so the rest of the photos I had to borrow from Kaye, thanks Kayma.

After they got all muddy, we made them clean off in the stock damn.  They had a little swim but it was starting to get cold and dark.  They started the fire, made some sausage, and ate their dinner.  After that they were left alone to their own devices as we went home to the house to get some real rest.  Their tent was out in the paddock by the damn, far enough away we didn't hear them all night.  We did leave them with a nicely contained fire, some torches and a few games so I'm sure they had a blast.

They were up early and we made them make dampa (sp?) for breakfast.  It's a type of break you cook on the fire.  They thought that was great fun.  After that we did some more harvesting while they took down the tent and packed up everything.  They went on a bush walk after that and Blake showed them the back hills.  I'm sure all the parents were really happy to get very tired, cranky, and muddy boys back :)
