Sophie turns 3

This week was Sophie's third birthday. The day started out with her breakfast of choice - Pancakes! We had our family birthday time before Blake went to school. She blew out her first candles and opened her presents.

Later in the morning we had a small party at playgroup. She got to blow out candles again and had her requested cupcakes of white cakes, yellow and pink frosting with jelly beans on top.

We ended the day by going down to the Build-a-Bear Workshop. She got to pick out a teddy, then a sound, then she stepped on the peddle to the stuffing machine. Before they sewed it up they did a ceremony for the heart. They rubbed the heart on their eyes so they could see, their nose so they could smell, their tummy so they would never be hungry, their arms so they could cuddle, and their hearts so they would always love them. Then they gave it a kiss and put it in the bear.

After it was stitched up they got to give it a bath, there was another peddle to step on and lots of air and brushes so it was quite fun and mess free. After that they just picked out clothes. We only got one outfit each. They had the craziest stuff there though. Wardrobes, sunglasses, shoes, purses, pets, sleeping bags, prams, carriers, accessories galore. They let us register our bear and put a bar code in him in case he got lost and gave them a certificate of birth and a box house. It was quite a process.

Thursday she got another few presents, more cupcakes, and another song and candles at the other playgroup. I think she was a little over it all by then. She hasn't gotten her big present yet, which is a bike, and we will get it down at the farm this weekend. I'm sure I'll have a big post about that.
