Amber's update

I'm still doing projects. This month, and probably the next, I'm working on Blake's birthday present. It's a patchwork quilt, very colorful, but some of the patches are cross stitched animals. Sophie is back to her 20 minute naps so I'm not getting as much done as I would like, but it's coming along. The Australian version of So You Think You Can Dance has just started on TV, so I watch that on Sunday nights. I am reading the Elemental Masters series by Mercedes Lackey as well. I have also put together a schedule for the house work so our house stays mostly clean all week long.

We have missionaries come by our house regularly and it was kind of annoying at first. Then I started talking to them, mostly cause I don't get to talk to people much during the day, and I started asking questions and challenging them. Now I have homework from them. I am reading "What does the bible really teach" from the Jehovah Witnesses and "The book of Mormon" from the Mormons. I got up a bunch of questions that I asked them about their religion in general and I'm sort of doing research to see how their religions differ from mine and Michael's. I think it's interesting to see how they each believe. So far, the basics are all the same so I have to look deeper to find the differences.

The Mormon religion is one that gets you thinking. I haven't read much yet but their little book is in addition to the bible, not instead of, like I first thought. It's supposedly about the first American Indians, how they came to be here, why they came, where they came from, etc. They supposedly wrote their history on these tablets to be found later by this guy Joseph Smith who then founded the Mormons. I have only read that much so I'm not sure if I believe it all or any yet, but it's interesting to think about. I give them questions, not questions that I don't have answers to, but questions that I want to know THEIR answers to, to see if they are the same as mine.

The Jehovah witness is very nice. We talked about hiking and the fires both in Australia and America in the last few years. She gave me some lessons for Blake that is quite fun and learn good things like not to lie or steal. He likes them. When she found out I gave a list of questions to the Mormon's she asked if she could have a copy and got me her answers back the very next day. She also did the research to find the scriptures in the Bible that back up her thoughts. After reading it I found many differences to our beliefs. One fact that I've always believed but was wrong on is that Jehovah witnesses do believe that Jesus is the Christ and God's son. The difference is that he is God's first born son, not his only son as they believe all the Angels are God's spirit sons. He's just the only Son to come to Earth and take on flesh. We have some other differences of opinions and I'm composing a reply and more questions to test her as well as myself.

Between my researching, swimming lessons, house work, reading, stitching projects, and Sophie, I'm keeping quite busy. I am qualified to work in Australia now, though I'm not quite ready to go back. My life just seemed empty and had no purpose when all I did was work. Michael is researching this stipend we will start getting in June for me staying at home to see if I can get a part time job and still keep that or not. If not, I'm going to have to get a really good job in order to make enough for it to be worth it. That means I'll probably have to drive to Brisbane and Sophie would have to go to child care and I'm not sure if that's what I want. Of course this is really the first month that we are home and settled and have nothing coming up that we need to plan for, so give me a month or two, I may start to get bored yet.

A rainy day in Australia. We can compete with the UK during our rainy season! It's rained 5 days out of 7 for the last two weeks. It's starting to become the habit of really hot during the day and thunderstorms in the afternoon, which is a sign that summer is coming to an end. Yippee!

Sophie getting ready for her bath. Yes, she can now crawl over to an object and pull herself up to standing!

Laughing at Dad and Rocky playing.

To keep cool we put water on her tray and let her splash around. Dad had to give her a new hair due of course.

Sophie doesn't like crawling in the grass, but she loves to pull it out with her hands. But for some reason she's never tried to eat it?! It's about the only thing. She still eats leaves, but not grass.
