Sophie Update

Michael is reloading our main computer so no pictures this time.  Hopefully by next time it will be back up and running.

Sophie is growing so much lately.  She had her 6 month birthday on Tuesday Feb 10th.  She's crawling around now as you've seen in the videos.  Though now she cruises and it's hard for us to keep her out of things. She also likes to pull herself up on the furniture and stand and she just started to walk her way along it.  She likes to pick grass, but for some reason hasn't attempted to put it in her mouth, though everything else goes in there.  Rocky is concerned now because she can crawl her way over to him and loves to grab his hair and tail.  We are starting to learn what gentle and petting mean.

She has this screeching she does when she's having fun, but it's very near the screech she does when she's frustrated so it's hard to tell.  Rocky still brings her his toys to throw, the difference is now that she can pick it up and give it a good chew, which devastates him as well as most mothers.  She hasn't learned how to throw it yet, but it's only a matter of time.

She now loves to watch movies.  We are going through the Disney movies currently; though we fast forward them through everything but the signing and dancing or she loses interest.  She is also doing quite well at her swim lessons.  She holds her breath now for 2 counts and closes her eyes to go under water.  She is starting to get the kicking down as well, but currently only her right leg kicks and not her left.

She is eating pretty well now.  She eats a really big breakfast with both solids and breast milk, then milk for morning tea, solids for lunch, milk for afternoon tea, solids for dinner and milk before bed.  If she can't chew something she holds it in her mouth for a good long time.  This morning she kept a piece of banana in there for nearly 20 minutes.  She can chew those but I think she was too full to swallow it so she kept it for later.

She has two teeth on the bottom just barely poking through, but are visible now.  She also has started to bite her tongue and fingers and realizes that it hurts.

We are thinking about joining a workout class that has mum's and bub's in it.  It's a little bit of a drive though so we aren't sure yet.  They are hoping to open one closer to us but aren't sure when that is going to happen.  We have been taking walks on our non swim days and play a little at the park.  So far the only thing she likes to do is swing and eat sand, but I'm sure that will change as she gets older.

We have a good routine now with naps.  She takes a good 1.5 hour nap in the mornings, if we are lucky it's between 8:30 and 10 so we are rested for our lessons at 11.  Then she sleeps again for 2-3 hours in the afternoon, usually between 12:30 and 3.  Then she goes to bed at 7.   It's really nice to have a routine as long as it fits around everything else! hehehe.
