Dragon Boat Racing

So the concenses is....it's Hot! Our house was at 31 degree's today (that's 89 in US). Now I've had it that hot before, even hotter, but not in the house! I've always had AC set at 74 (hottest) or a well insulated basement that didn't get over 70ish. So I put it to the man (Michael) that he either get me a pool, or I was going to turn on the AC. Yes, Ladies and Gentlemen, he got me a pool! I'm so excited. I've never had a pool before. It's one of those above ground units. It sits on our side patio so it's in the shade nearly all day. The water is nice and cool today. The pool measures 106 cm at it's widest and comes all the way up to the start of my calf! Yes, you guesed it...we got a wadding pool. *sigh*. Ah well. You keep your feet cold and the rest of you is tolerable. Plus I think Sophie will like it. And if you have a happy baby, then your day can't be that bad.

So...we were sitting in our pool...it was 31 degrees outside with 60% humidity and I hear Christmas music drifting over the fence from the neighbors. How odd is that?! Please let my Visa come in so I can spend the hottest part of the year seeing snow for Christmas. Please, please, please.

We did have 3 days of cooler weather and rain. Ah I love the rain. I don't think I've ever seen rain come straight down before. It's neat. Anyway, my sister will be so proud. I did something in those three days that I haven't done in... no joke...5 maybe 6 years. I made cookies! The 'put fat on your butt' cookies. Chocolate chip of course. Blake ate all the cookies - all 12 of them - and Michael and I ate dough for days. It was a delight....and so are those workout routines I have to do to work them off! Yes, despite the heat, I am still getting in a workout at least every other day if not more often.

This weekend we got to watch Jill Dragon Boat Race. It was fun to learn about a new sport. It has a lot in common with Swimming. You do one race and then sit around for a bit and then do another, somethings two really quick in a row, sometimes a long wait in between. You have a tent/camp with all your friends to sit around and talk, rest, eat etc in while you are waiting. You put in many hours of practice for a race that lasts less than 3 minutes. You are all wet, no make up, messy hair, etc and no one cares.... It was great. And I learned a secret. The drummer....yeah, they don't really do anything. They are there for tradition and nothing else! The crew gets their rhythm from the front rowers!

We also went to a new beach. They had columns of volcanic rock just off shore that made for some awesome pictures.

Small gap between the shore and the rocks. Easy to cross at low tide and an awesome show during high tide!

Can you see Jill! hehehe. She's in the very back with the black hat on.

Doesn't she look so professional!
