When it Rains it pours

So if the flood wasn't enough, our house got broken into!

Let me start with yesterday. Yesterday I came home from work and went to open the garage and found my garage door opener gone. I pulled into the drive way and found the garage door half way up/down. The first thing I did was check for Stoli, he was good, guarding our stuff. Then I went in the house and made sure all the expensive stuff, turn tables, tv, etc, was still in tack and it was. Being the space cadet that I have been, I thought I might have just misplaced the garage door opener, but I knew I used it when coming home from the trip and that the door was closed when I left for work. I didn’t use it that morning because my car was outside and would have noticed if it was up. I wanted to be cautious, but not overly excited incase I was just loosing my mind, so I had Michael help me deactivate all the openers so if it was stolen, they couldn’t use it to get into the house, but expecting that I would find it later.

So today I got a call from the cops. The neighbor saw 3 suspicious Black guys on our back porch going in and out of our house. I was called home to investigate and give them a statement. I came home, told them the story about yesterday and then we walked through the house. The small speaker that controls the volume to the TV had been unplugged and moved but still here. Jeremiah's head phones to his turn tables had been packed in the bag and sitting on top. Some of those cables had been unplugged but as far as I can tell everything is still there. The DVD binders had been pulled out on the floor and gone through I don’t think anything was taken. The cops thought Jeremiah's room had been gone through so I went in there and the first thing I checked for was his new laptop, still in the box and still on the bed, his computer and his keyboard and they were all still there. The bed side table drawer was open and things were pulled halfway out so I know they went through that, but couldn't tell if anything was missing.

So, now that you have the good news of all the stuff that is safe….. the bad news. They got away with the PS3 and all the games and controllers. The only other thing that was missing was Jeremiah's car keys. For some reason they took Jeremiah's and not Amber’s which were in the same place. I think it was because it had the house key on it. I moved all the flood stuff and parked the car back into the garage with the spare key I remembered in his secret place. Jeremy (Michaels awesome helpful friend) is coming over to replace the locks on the doors.

The cops think they know who they are, but they need proof to bring them in. One of them moved into those townhomes on Memphis. They had CSI come and take fingerprints so I hope they help. They also heard from some of our other neighbors that their cars had been broken into and other things are going on in the neighborhood. They are going to have extra patrols out in our neighborhood till these guys are caught. In fact, we saw some cops frisking 3 guys in the Safeway parking lot just 30 minutes ago and it's fun to hope that it was them. Although, how many groups can the description “3 black guys” really fit?

I bought some flowers for the neighbor that called it in and will take them over to her this evening. Poor Jeremiah will never want to take a vacation again.

I know that a lot of bad things have happened in the last 3 days, but I just have to keep reminding myself how lucky we are. Blake and I are doing well, and thank you for all your support.
