Mini Vacation/Disaster

Last week Leah and Jon came back to the states for a visit. Blake took off School and I took off work Thursday May 8th to go up to SD to visit. We stayed until Tuesday May 13th when Leah and Jon went off to Alaska for a Wedding. The trip was pretty restful. Friday we just sort of hung out and rested. Sat, they had an open house to visit friends. All I did both days was sewing while sitting on the couch. I know, rough life. Sunday they did more visiting at church and then I slept most of the afternoon while Blake helped sort drill bits with Grandpa and went horse riding with Grammy. Monday we went shopping! I actually found a few things so was happy. Tuesday the adventure started. We got up at 4am. We were supposed to leave the house at 4:45 but didn't get let till 5:20, which means we were really late. My car was loaded down with their luggage, Stoli and his crate and bed, Blake and My stuff, and of course, Leah and Jon. So it was quite an adventure. We got Leah and Jon to the airport 30 minutes before their flight was to leave. Good thing we were in SD! It was plenty of time and they got off alright.

Blake and I travelled home to find another adventure. While we were gone, a plastic fitting on the pipes broke and water was gushing - yes gushing out into the crawl space. The crawl space slopes and on the down side the water was about 4-6 inches deep. I should have taken pictures, but after the drive I was just too tired. Thank fully, most of the stuff on that side was left over building supplies, painting supplies, and the garage sale stuff. My book collection and most of Jeremiah's stuff was on the upslope! I am going out today to get plastic bins for my stuff! I don’t' want to take that chance again. Jeremy (one of Michael's friends) came over and fixed the leak so we were able to turn the water back on to the house. Andy and Synthia (friends from work) were able to come help me clean out all the wet stuff, throwing away what was ruined and laying out what we could salvage. By 9pm we were exhausted.

Oh and to add the cherry on top, after we got home and found the mess, Stoli started crying and wouldn't put any weight on his front left paw. I searched and searched but couldn't find anything that could be hurting it. We were on our way to the vet in the middle of all this! He's doing fine now. There was a big sticker in his foot that was so covered with hair I couldn't find it. Once it came out, his paw was sore for the rest of the day but seems to be fine now.

Hopefully the rest of the week will be less eventful, though it's busy enough. I need to get the car ready to post for sale and the garage sale this weekend. Wish me luck!
