Last week at the house I am staying at in St Louis, there was an extremely stormy day. Lightning and thunder persisted for more than half the day! It was quite exciting! Anyway, when I got home - the garage door opener didn't work any more, and a few things were blown off the wall... the TV's both blew up, and the cable TV receivers as well. It wasn't until 2 days later that we noticed a bunch of debris thrown across the grass behind the house... and upon further inspection, we appear to have found where the lightning hit.
Actually you cant see it, but roots even exploded under the ground - peeling up the the soil. It was quite the sight! I think this tree will die, as all the bark has been damaged.
