House Updates...

You can see the dirt heaped up against the concrete footings.  This provides better insulation for the 'crawl space' under the house.

Here is the dirt heaped at the front of the house.

You can see the light coming through the wall of the Barn where the house roof line joins on.  This will be filled with flashing when the shingles go on.  We now have the back door into the Barn cut out!  Exciting!

Here is the stack of windows that Marvin got for free for the house.  There are a few arched windows, but most are just rectangular - 5' high x 6' wide.  They are really high quality, gas filled double glazed, from a hotel refurbishment.

We wrapped the building!  This is just a wind and moisture barrier, stapled onto the underlying board.

We got the water in!  It was $7000 line tapping fee, plus dirt work on top of that.  Not cheap...  All lines are 6 ft under or more.  You can see me in the trench below.  It is DEEP!

6 foot under...

This is the water meter pit (!!!).  Yes, it is about a 1000 gallon tank like thing, buried 6 ft under...

I love the safety culture around here.  Go ahead, ride in the concrete casket as it is lowered into the pit with no safety shoes, hard hat, hi vis or anything...

So, this thing houses a water meter.  It is 6 feet under, so it doesn't freeze in winter.  Winter causes a lot of extra work around the place...
