Life in SD

We have settled into a routine here, unfortunately for my readers, it's sort of boring.  Monday - Thursday I workout, go to work, come home, do school work, pick up the kids, feed them, put them to bed, and do more school work.  Friday I do school work all morning and then errands in the afternoon.  Fun huh!  So exciting.  We do try to do things on the weekend, but usually it consists of my mom and dad doing stuff with the kids while I study.  I don't know how my teacher can claim that each unit should take 12 hours when the first ones only took me 8 and these last ones took me nearly 20 each.  Oh well.  I take my final for administration and midterm for the course this week coming so maybe the next book will be back to the 8 hours.  Here's hoping.

Two weekends ago it was nice enough that the kids got some outside time.  They even got on the horses!  Sophie was so brave and of course Thomas was a trouper.  Though of course we didn't get any photos (shame on me). Blake has been a great help with chores and helping Grandpa with little projects.  Then it turned cold again and it's hard to do anything but play dough, arts and crafts, legos, trains and movies.  But spring will come soon.  Dad has things going on the pole barn so that will be fun to watch the progress of.

The kids have also been sick.  Adjusting to the climate and daycare I suppose.  There are colds, fevers, a little flu, coughs, running noses, spews in the night and all that fun stuff.  I think they are finally getting over it all.  Yesterday we tried to take them to the Little Britches Rodeao.  The kids only lasted about 2 hours but they got an idea.  They watched barrel racing, and calf roping, and some of the kids were no bigger than Sophie so they were able to relate, sort of.  Of course I didn't get any photos of that either.  I did get some scenic shots of where we live though.  I figure to keep my blog interesting I'm going to have to be creative and maybe do a series on 'South Dakota', because even though it's old to me, many of my readers have never been here:).  So stay tuned for that.  I'm all caught up now so I'll be doing the blog every other week again, though I haven't picked a day that works yet.

Washing potatoes is fun no matter what country you are in.

Getting ready for a walk in the paddock (field) down to the stock damn.

Playing in a little patch of snow on the walk.

Painting.

Scenic view from the house without snow dusting and with the lighting at sunset (instead of at dawn like the one above).
