We are finally able to do some fun 'holiday' stuff these past two weeks, between my schooling and packing. I've pasted most of the comments below with the photos so I could remember everything that we did. Michael has gotten a new camera so I've got more photos than normal. He's so funny when he gets a new toy.
Last weekend we packed up most of the house. Next Sat we are putting everything into storage and moving in with Kaye and David for the week. An exciting week it will be too. We have a good-bye party, a citizenship ceremony, applying for passports, last minute visits to friends, a trip to every theme park we can fit in for a 'one last time' fun. Then we can finally rest! Well if you can call camping resting...(doubtful). I will be between books in my school so I'll only have flashcards to study. That will be restful for me. Our tickets are booked for Feb 11th to SD. All my CO friends hang in there, we will visit soon after.
Thomas riding his bike - you tell me another 2.5 year old that can ride this good!
Cupcake creation - can you tell which one Sophie did? We spent several days cooking to use up all of our flour, sugar, and pantry items before we left. One batch of chocolate, chocolate chip cupcakes with chocolate whipped cream icing and chocolate m&m's. One batch of half whole meal dark chocolate chip cookies. One batch of whole meal white chocolate and macadamia nut cookies. Two loafs of bread. Oh we also cooked this last weekend for the whole week so we could pack up our kitchen, So quiche, lasagne, curry etc. :) Fun times.
It was too hot to go camping, but we were able to take our neighbors out to our favorite camping spot and play in the creek. We have taught our children that if you move the rocks just so... you can create a little pond to sit in. Thomas worked really hard to make this one :)
We were able to make it to miniature golfing last week. It was a fun time. They have 3 x 18 hole courses. One Fun Time - with a bunch of cartoon characters and a whole bunch of tunnels to hit through. One water course, the kids were more interested in the water than the golfing :). And one jungle theme. They loved the animal sounds and trees. We played two games before lunch, the first one was great. The 2nd one was too long waiting between holes as the lines grew. Thomas had to take a break and come back. Then we went to get something to eat in the nice A/C of the restaurant next door. Then back for the last one, where the kids, even tired, seemed to perk up and show us they knew how to golf.
Dress up time is always a fun time at our house. It usually goes on for about 3 days. Thomas really gets into it. He has his favourite shirt and skirt and shoes. Sophie doesn't let him forget his handbag, or wings. The fun part for us though, is to watch them dance and prance around once they are done.
One Thursday a month Kaye and David go on a 'bread run'. They get all the left over stuff from the bakery and take it to donation centres and then bring home anything that won't fit into the freezers. Most of it goes to the cows, but before that, the kids....not even waiting for it to be unloaded, dig into the bags and each as much as they can!
We did have a chance to finally make it to the Koala Sanctuary. Unfortunately they closed before it got cool enough for us to actually see the Koala's move, but they are still cute sleeping. Thomas and Sophie liked trying to find them in the trees. We had a nice picnic with our friends Mel, Luke and Liam in the adjacent park and were able to view (and chase for Thomas) a few kangaroos. It was a nice outing.
Sophie loved this pink and purple castle in mini golf. Her favourite colours and everything!
