Neighbours and Friends

We've had two weekends that couldn't have been more different if we planned it that way.  The weekend before last we stayed home and did absolutely nothing.  We'll we didn't do nothing, we had chores and read the paper and did a bit of cleaning, but we didn't venture out of the house at all.  I know to some of you that might sound boring, but.... it was great.  Sunday night we broke our streak and walked to our neighbour's house to have pizza.  He has built his own pizza oven in his back yard.  It's handier than a BBQ :).  We really enjoyed getting to know them as they have two little ones, and of course eating their pizza!

This past week has put us back into routine.  School has started, playgroups, sing and move and all our other activities are back in action.  You can tell the kids really missed going.  It is great to catch up with everyone after having two weeks off.  On Friday we got Sophie's acceptance letter for the C&K kindergarten, which worked out great, because Sat they had an open house for all those on the waiting list and we handed in our paperwork.  It was nice to actually say, yes my daughter is in group A next year, and be able to meet the teachers and directors that will be taking care of her.

She will be going on Monday, Tuesday and every other Wed.  To get her ready I moved her day care day to Tuesday which means I will have a one on one day with each of my kids as Thomas will still be going on Thursday.  Sophie is excited because this means she gets to go with Mia again, her best friend.  Her mom had the baby and isn't working any more so they pulled her out of some days, one being Thursday and Sophie was quite sad when she left.  It was good for her though as she learned to make new friends.  In term 4 we will add Monday as well so she can get used to going two days in a row.

Sat night we went to my first ever Trivia night.  I guess it's something they do a lot around here as fundraisers because I have another one for Blake's school later this year.  This one was for the Church.  It was great fun chatting with everyone.  I even answered two of the questions, which was surprising.  I'm not really keen on filling my head up with useless facts that won't affect my life.  Our team did pretty well until they had a sports section.  *sigh* Oh, well.  We did have to leave at half point because our children got really tired so were home by 9pm.

Sunday we packed full.  After Church Michael went to a lunch with his work for a retirement celebration and then we drove up to meet our friends Mel and Luke at a play place.  The kids played well considering they had a very late night the night before.  They did fall asleep on the way home.  It was very peaceful.

This week is going to be quite normal with everything during the week.  Blake is visiting the high school today with a select few of his other classmates, other than that, nothing special.  Sat we will head down to the farm for the first time in almost 4 weeks as Kaye and David have been down South.  Sunday is packing.  Michael is going away for a work trip to Sydney and Blake will be going away to school camp so it will be just me and the little ones all week.

Our camera took a swim in the bathtub this week and it took a bit for Michael to dry it out and fix it.  I didn't get any videos but did manage to get some photos the last two days to post.

Sophie's new school open house.

The ball pit.

The merry-go-round.

The bouncing castle - That's Liam you see with the kids, he's Mel and Luke's son.

They actually played nicely together! It was awesome.
