Nearly Caught up

Well it's only Sat so I'm only 3 days late updating the blog this time!  Whoo Hoo.

Last time we chatted my mom was here from the states.  Unfortunately, we didn't get to do too many touristy things for a number of reasons, but we did manage to go hiking.  Of course it was after a weeks worth of rain so it was very muddy.  It made it really fun for the kids.  Thomas had a rough start because he was scared of the Wild Turkey that followed us from the car to the toilets.  After we distracted him with sticks he was fine until he picked up a prickly leave.  Then we cried until we found the creek to play in.  Other than that the kids were great and time and the kids walked the whole 2.6km by themselves.  It was a down to the bottom creek bed and waterfall and back up type of hike.  We made the stairs a game and the mud made it a challenge.  All in all a great day.

That was Monday.  On Tuesday Sophie had her Teeth done.  She had 4 cavities in her back molars and she had to go to the day surgery to get it done since she's so young. We were prepared for the worst but she did great.  She slept off the lethargy of the drugs and woke up feeling fine.  We snuggled till we got checked out and into the car.  We brought food for her because I didn't know she was supposed to wait till she got home - due to car sickness possibility.  She wanted to eat, so we let her eat.  She had lots of yoghurt and apple sauce and then asked us to stop for chips (french fries) so we did.  Then she was supposed to rest for 24 hours but she felt like playing so we let her.  She was normal again and ready to go to daycare the next day.

Wednesday was my work day, and Thursday we tried to go to swimming lessons again.  There was something about my mom being there that made Sophie cry for the whole half an hour lesson both weeks.  The time before my mom and the time after my mom she was fine.  In Fact all 3 of my children got moved up levels in the last two weeks.  It's been great.

Blake took Friday off school to take Grammy to the airport.  Sat we had a rare day at home with the whole family.  It was very nice.  On Sunday we took a drive out in the bush to Currumbin Community Farm.  The kids had great fun seeing the animals, playing at the adventure park, the school park, going on a bush walk, and just being with Dad.  Blake, after completing his homework, got to use the climbing wall to show off his skills his Grandpa taught him.

This past week I've just been playing keep up.  We had a rental inspection on Tuesday, that means we cleaned on Monday and Tuesday until they got there.  We got back into routine with bible study, playgroup, and daycare and swim lessons.  It's been good.  This weekend we are off to the Farm again, but since the harvesting machine is nearly done, hopefully it will be more a play weekend instead of a work weekend.

Hiking at Mt. Tamborine:
Left: Walking through the mud.
Right: The waterfall at the bottom.

Left: The waterfall again.
Right: Thomas using Sophie's shoe to play in the water and mud.

Left: Sophie riding Thomas' scooter.  They seemed to have mutually switched which is fine with us.
Right: Thomas at swim lessons.

Left: Sophie all dressed up and ready for school (well an outing of some sort.)
Right: Sophie 'stickered up' Thomas one morning before we got them up.  At least they are easier to take off him than the furniture and walls!

We had heaps of rain right after my mom left.  It came so fast it took awhile for it to soak in and drain so we had a little lake in our yard.  Thomas is out in the rain playing in it.
