I'm a week and and a day late, but better late than never I always hear. I'll be updating you on all of Jan this post so sit back and relax, you'll be here awhile. Just kidding. Not much happened in Jan. We got back from our holidays in Victoria and settled in to enjoy some of the summer before Blake went back to school. This included a few days at the beach, pictures below. Other than that, I'm de-junking the house again. I sold a few things on ebay. Enough to pay for new beds for the kids. Blake now has a captains bed with drawers and a trundle built in.
Thomas and Sophie are now sharing a room. Thomas settled well into the big boy bed, only twice did we have to put him into the cot because he kept getting out. Now he knows the rules and does really well. We still need to get rid of some of their clothes and toys, but that will come, hopefully this weekend. I've moved my Tupperware stuff from our closet to the new work/guest room. It still needs to be organized but it's great to have it out of our bedroom. Next in a new lounge suite as our hide-a-bed is going into the guest room. I'm sure our guests will enjoy not having to sleep in the lounge any more. All that's left is to de-junk the garage, office and toys. Once we get a weekend that Michael is not working on the new harvest machine we can get it all done.
We did have a week when we had 4 teenage girls staying with us. Sophie and Thomas just loved it. I even got a video of Thomas flirting with them. They were very well mannered girls. They helped cook and looked after the kids so Michael and I could go out a couple of times. It was great. They were gone during the day so it only effected us during the evenings and mornings. That was when I decided we needed more beds, hence the trundle bed under Blake's bed, as well as the kids bunk bed, and now the guest room bed. The girls, bless them, had to all squash into Sophie's room, 3 sleeping on air mattresses and one in the bed. Now we can fit a family of 5 comfortably :)
I have decided to become a manager in training for Tupperware. It's taking up a bunch more time than I expected but Michael is chipping in great at home and Blake is doing more than his share as well. We had already decided to put Sophie into Daycare at least one day if she didn't get into the preschool program so we decided to put Thomas in on the same day as well so allow me to get some work done. The last 3 weeks, I've had to take a rest to recovery from my 'day off'. My classes are nearly over though and I got my first recruit so things are starting to look up.
Michael's harvester is going well as far as he shares with me. They are waiting for one more part before they can start testing it. I sort of hope that it comes so they can be done with it, and sort of hope it doesn't come till after this weekend so we can finish our de-junking project. I guess Australia Post will decide.
After a rough start, Blake is doing well in school. It was hard to see all his friends move up to high school, but he's made some new friends and is even trying out for the choir today. He's doing well in swimming, though I signed him up for some extra lessons to help him with his stroke technique. We moves Sophie to a pool that she can touch the bottom on and her confidence has just sky rocketed. She's nearly swimming all the way across the little pool now (12.5 m). It was all physiological I guess. I hope her confidence stays up when they move her to the large pool.
Thomas is cheeky as ever. He's got a mischief streak in him that's for sure. He seems to like day care and tormenting his siblings as well as the dog. He likes to take things and run away as all children do and he likes digging in the garden with my kitchen utensils. He's very good at copying what you say and has several words in his vocabulary now. He's getting his last few teeth in and goes back and forth about wanting to potty train. One day he's all about it and one day he doesn't want to bother. Since he's not even two yet, we just go with whatever he's up for that day.
Left over from the holidays. Our breakfast table and Sophie helping Kayma bake.
Left: Blake and his Lego helicopter
Right: Sophie and I wearing our new necklaces that we made from her Christmas gift.
Why is it so cute when kids are messy eaters? And yes, he is double fisting two ice cream cones. He swiped mine and then acted like it was perfectly normal.
How many kids can you fit into a paddling pool? At least 5!
Beach Fun
