Thomas' birthday

We made it a whole year! Thomas turned one this past Sat. We were blessed to have my Mom here for it. Of course, we took Thomas (and Michael) to Bunya Mountains for our gift, but we had a nice party at Kaye's the day off. Gillian, Montana and Lincoln were able to come. Thomas didn't quite know what to do with his candle, and he didn't like his cake, but he had great fun. Note to self: Thomas doesn't like lemon flavor for next year's cake.

He did pretty well opening his gifts. He read the cards first (and chewed on them a little) and was attentive during his first present opening. But then he didn't want us to take that gift away to give him the other ones! I guess you really have to take all day to open gifts when they are this young. Give them time to play with each gift before opening the next one.

In other news, now that my quilts are done, my mom has left, and I have a break from driving Blake to things, I am spending time on myself. I started a workout and eating program. It's quite killer, but at least I know that it's only 3 weeks long so it's tolerable. I hope to loose 10 lbs in 3 weeks and then continue at a slower pace to be to my goal weight by my birthday in Sept. Here's hoping.

Tuesday, yesterday, I tried to tell Sophie that it was Daddy's birthday. She thought about it for awhile and said "no, daddy already had his birthday." She remembered nearly two weeks ago when we gave him a cake with candles on it up at Bunya Mountains. It was really cute.

Thomas reading his cards. He's such a good reader, you know. He can read a whole book in seconds. Though he gets nervous when people look over his shoulder.

Gift from Kaye. He found something better to do with the mallet than make noise with it.

Truck from the Taylor's.
