This weekend we had a three day yard work session. Kaye and David came to help on the 1st day. Of course everything takes longer than you plan. Plus much of what was done was digging holes and filling them up again, so you couldn't even tell they did all that work! What a bummer. Though the drainage in our yard should be much better now. We nearly got the front yard done. The path is done so at least we don't have to walk in the mud. We also got the grass seed planted just before the rains started today. Unfortunately, the rain also means that we can't get the concrete done for the carport so that's delayed at least another week.
Besides the veranda, which is still at council being approved, and filling in a few holes, the front yard is just waiting for the grass to grow. How exciting. The work on the back yard is just beginning. We got half of the new retaining wall/garden done. We still have to do a lot of shifting of gardens, composts, etc as well as finishing the new wall, but at least you can see some progress. We did get a few of the strawberries and flowers in the first bed before the rains came. It should look really good once they all grow and spread out.
Our new path. Picture it with no sand and with grass all around and you get a better idea.
Lower half of the new wall. This is where the BBQ (ugly, useless) area used to be.
Pretty path all ready for the pavers to go down. It took a day and a half to prepare but only 1.5 hours to actually lay them.
Yup, this is Sophie and I managing the work.
Michael's favorite part, using machines.
Sophie still likes to dress herself. Unfortunately sometimes she doesn't get her pants pulled up past her nappy. I've heard of drooping pants on boys, but drooping skirts on girls? hmmmm.
