For Valentine's Day we went down to the farm. Gillian and her family came out and we went out to the bush (forest) by the creek and had a fire. We cooked our food and let the children play in the creek. Unfortunately we only remembered to take a few photo's and they didn't turn out very well. But it was great fun.
Our extension is at a stall currently. The builder that we first went with changed his mind on us and decided he didn't want Michael to do any of the work, which was where we were going to save money. So we are in the process of trying to find a new builder. Also, the plans that he sent to council went kind of crazy with the car port and foundations so we need to apply with modifications so that doesn't cost us as much too. The bank doesn't think it's worth investing too much in the house because of the neighborhood so we won't be able to get the loan we wanted either.
I'm sure we will have better news next week once we start over with someone new. Unfortunately, with the loan information from the bank, I think we will have to give up our trip to the US this June. *sigh*. Oh well. I do miss all of you, but those of you that read this keep in touch so it's not that bad. Maybe we can get my Dad to make the trip over here with my mom in June.
We are still making small but significant improvements to the house as you will see in the photo's below.
The quilt I did for our play group raffle.
This is where the old carport and shed used to be, and where the new extension will be eventually.
Since there is no insulation in the walls of our house, it's important to block out the sun. These are the new sun Shades that Michael put up at the back of our house.
Once our work is done all four sides will be protected somehow. This side has the shades, the front will have a full length veranda, the carport on one side and the new extension with insulation on the fourth side. It should keep the house a lot cooler.
