Our travels are over. We made it home safe. We started by waking at 4am so we could get all packed up, fed, showered etc to leave for the bus station by 5:30 to make it to the 6:05 bus. We arrived at the airport at 7:30 and had our baggage checked by 8:15. Then we sat at a bagel shop to feed Sophie and say good-bye to Leah and Jon. We started to go through security at 9:00 and boarded our plane at 10:55am Sunday Jan 25th.
The first flight was 12 hours. Michael got a good sleep but Blake only slept for about 2 hours and I only an hour. Sophie did pretty good. She slept for about 6 hours, then played in her bassinet for a long time then went back to sleep for another 2-3 hours. We stopped in Singapore for a 2 hour layover and then got on another plane for an 8 hour flight. This time Sophie nearly slept the whole way. I got about 1.5 hours sleep and Blake about 4 hours. Michael only dozed. This put us into Australia at 7:30pm on Monday Jan 26th.
So after 29 waking hours and 21.5 hours of travel, we hopped on a Maxi Taxi (to hold all of our luggage) and got a ride to our Cousin's house to pick up our car and trailer and then traveled the last 45 minutes to home, arriving and making it to bed at 11pm. Whew. It is hot and muggy but good to be home and not have to live out of suitcases anymore.
There is still no news on our Visa. I am trying to work out a payment plan so Blake can still go to school. In the mean time I am home schooling him with a mixture of books from the school book list and activity books that he got for Christmas. Wish us luck! I'll keep updating the Blog once a week now for a bit, till things get too boring, and keep pictures coming of the children. Once I run out of storage I might even look into joining facebook!
